The Police Medals were conferred by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on the eve of 78th Independence Day for distinguished service in the field of policing. The President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service has been awarded to Shri Chiranjivi Ramchhabila Prasad, Shri Rajendra Balajirao Dahale and Shri Satish Govekar. A total of 59 police personnel from the state have been awarded 'Police Medal for Gallantry' to 17 police officers and personnel and 'Police Medal for Meritorious Service' to 39 police personnel.

The President's Police Medal for Gallantry and the Police Medal for Gallantry are awarded for conspicuous gallantry in the line of duty, protecting life and property, apprehending crime and apprehending criminals. The President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded for distinguished service in the police force. The 'Police Medal for Meritorious Service' is awarded for invaluable service rendered with resourcefulness and devotion to duty. A total of 908 police officers / personnel from across the country have been awarded 'Police Medals' on the occasion of Independence Day 2024. Of these, 59 are from Maharashtra.

17 police personnel of the state have been awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry. Police Medal for Gallantry Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manishi Chandra, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Govind Sharma, Inspector Vinay Kumar, Inspector Sanjay Gupta, Inspector Kailash Singh Bisht, and Dharmendra Kumar, Inspector Ravinder Joshi and Vinod Badola, ASI Shiv Yadav, SI Ajaibeer Singh, SI Devender Singh, Sub-Inspector (SI) Banay Singh and Late Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma (posthumously) have been awarded president's police medal for gallantry. Dhanaji Tanaji Honmane - Sub-Inspector (Posthumous) Nagesh Kumar Bondyalu Madarboina - Naik Police Sepoy, Shakeel Yusuf Shaikh - Police Sepoy, Vishwanath Samaiya Pendam - Police Sepoy, Vivek Manku Narote - Police Sepoy, Moreshwar Namdeo Potavi - Police Sepoy, Kailash Chunga Kulmethe - Police Sepoy, Kotla Botu Korami - Police Sepoy, Korke Sunny Veladi - Police Sepoy, Mahadev Vishnu Wankhede - Police Sepoy, Anuj Milind Tare - Police Sub-Inspector, Vijay Dadaso Sakpal - Sub-Inspector, Mahesh Boru Miccha - Chief Sepoy, Samayya Lingaiah - Assam Naik - Police Sepoy.

The 'Police Medal' for meritorious service was awarded to 39 policemen in the state. They are Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Police, Devdas Bhattacharya, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, District Council Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom, Police Super Mizanur Rahman, Acting President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, and its city unit President Shafiur Rahman.

The accused have been identified as Mohan Ramchandra Nikare (assistant sub-inspector), Dwarkadas Mahadevrao Bhange (assistant sub-inspector) and Amit Kumar Mata Prasad Pandey (sub-inspector).
