Air pollution complaints rise in Mumbai.

A recent report from Praja, an NGO, indicates a significant rise in air pollution complaints from residents in Mumbai. Between 2019 and 2023, there has been a 305 percent increase in air pollution complaints in Mumbai and its neighboring areas. The report by Praja Sanstha, focusing on civic issues in Mumbai, highlights that air pollution complaints surged by 305 percent from 2019 to 2023. Additionally, noise pollution complaints saw a rise of 183 percent during the same period.

The findings also show a 22 percent decline in air quality in Mumbai between 2019 and 2023, with recent reports of poor air quality in various regions. Consequently, there has been a spike in cases of winter fever and dengue, as well as respiratory illnesses in Mumbai and nearby regions. In 2014, 135 pollution complaints were recorded, increasing to 760 complaints in 2023.

Similarly, solid waste management complaints rose from 7,331 in 2014 to 24,690 in 2023. Complaints related to water supply escalated from 7,645 in 2014 to 14,752 in 2023. On the other hand, road complaints decreased from 21,777 in 2014 to 10,549 in 2023.
