In Guwahati, an Assam Police woman commando was suspended and departmental proceedings were initiated against her on Thursday for allegedly using social media for commercial purposes to generate revenue for herself, according to DGP G.P. Singh. The DGP stated that, while monitoring social media posts, it was discovered that one of their female personnel had been using the platform for commercial gain, violating rules prohibiting government servants from engaging in business activities.

Following verification, the woman was suspended and departmental proceedings were launched against her. Singh emphasized that police officers have been consistently reminded not to misuse social media in ways that conflict with government or departmental regulations.

Further more, the DGP cautioned all police personnel to refrain from engaging in such activities. The police woman is a member of the state's elite woman commando force "Veerangana" and had reportedly promoted a lottery app on social media.
