Bibvewadi Crime: Disabled Man Loses Rs 39 Lakh to Fraudster Posing as Commissioner

A Divyang man was cheated of Rs 39 lakh by saying that he is the Divyang Commissioner and he will remove the license of the wine shop from the Divyang quota.

Both the accused and the victim are disabled. Therefore, it appeared that the disabled were cheating the disabled.

According to the police, the victim was paralysed in both legs. Four years ago, a friend of his introduced him to Vijay Mhaske. Vijay Mhaske said that he is the Commissioner with Disabilities. They wanted to see the girl. He was speaking on this occasion. The complainant asked Mhaske if a SRAX Centre stall could be found on the platform at the Pune railway station. They were ready to accept it. He paid Rs 2 lakh for it. When he saw that they had money, he said that as long as I am the Divyang Commissioner, I will make a big profit and get them a wine shop license from the Divyang quota.

The project will cost Rs 48 crore. You will get a subsidy of Rs 1 crore 36 lakh from the central government for the material required for this. He also said that the Maharashtra government will provide a subsidy of Rs 56 lakh. The complainant paid Rs 39.83 lakh to Mhaske from December 2023 to March 2024.


Meanwhile, on January 19, 2024, Mhaske took him to Mantralaya for this work. The new building has the office of Excise Minister Shambhuraj Desai on the 6th floor. Sitting the complainant in the waiting room of his office, he went inside with his file. After a while, he returned to the living room. The letter head of the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance came with a letter signed by the Additional Commissioner. It was signed by the complainant and his wife as license holders. Though he had assured the complainant that he would get the licence, in reality, he was evasive for various reasons. The complainant then met Mhaske at Garwa Hotel. He said that he will come to Pune and give the license. When he asked for his money back, he was given a blank cheque. However, he returned as there was no money in his account. On realising that he has been duped, he approached the police.

A case has been registered against Vijay Mhaske at Chikhli police station for cheating a Pimpri resident of Rs 10 lakh 65 thousand by pretending to be the Divyang Commissioner. This time, he pretended to be a resident of Manori in Nashik. Here too, the complainant has been cheated by saying that he removes the license of the wine shop from the Divyang quota.
