Police in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh took significant action by eliminating criminal Nilesh Rai, who was wanted with a reward of Rs.2 lakh on his head. The criminal, originally from Bihar, had previously attacked Bihar Police and managed to escape. The joint effort of Special Task Force (STF) from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar led to the encounter in the Ratanpuri area of Muzaffarnagar.
Despite opening fire on the police, Nilesh Rai was killed during the incident. ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash confirmed that the Bihar government had placed a reward of Rs.2.25 lakh on Nilesh Rai.
Following the encounter, he was taken to the hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. Current legal procedures are underway, with the body sent for post-mortem examination and the family duly notified.
