The Congress has called for a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical courses. State Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif has urged the immediate cancellation of the exam due to corruption concerns. While opposition parties have voiced criticism, ministers from the Ajit Pawar group, BJP allies, have also expressed disapproval.

Instances of malpractice in the NEET exam have resulted in injustice to Maharashtra students. The demand is to promptly cancel the exam to safeguard the interests of hardworking students. Mushrif has indicated potential legal action and has reassured parents of students seeking clarification from higher authorities regarding the examination process.

The Congress has condemned the government for the prevalent malpractice, corruption, and administrative shortcomings in exams like NEET. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge has pushed for a thorough investigation supervised by the Supreme Court to ensure fairness for exam takers. NSUI chief Varun Chaudhary has also raised concerns about malpractices in NEET.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting the NEET exam, has refuted allegations of malpractice. They attribute higher scores to alterations in NCERT textbooks and grace marks awarded to compensate for lost time during exam centers. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has justified the state's long-standing opposition to NEET, emphasizing the exam's adverse impact on social justice and the federal structure.
