The central government on Wednesday asked the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to take over the security of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata and the patient, official sources said. The Home Ministry has issued an order in this regard following a Supreme Court directive.
On Wednesday morning, a CISF team led by a deputy inspector general-level officer inspected the hospital. The CISF will provide security to the hostels of the medical college and an armed contingent of the paramilitary force will be deployed soon.

The body of the woman doctor was found on the morning of August 9 in the hall of the hospital. She was murdered after being raped. The Supreme Court on Tuesday constituted a 10-member National Task Force (NTF) to develop a national protocol for ensuring safety and facilities for doctors and health professionals.
