Congress infighting in Bengaluru intensifies over Deputy Chief Minister positions

TDN

In Bengaluru, Congress infighting has resurfaced as ministers publicly discuss the creation of Deputy Chief Minister (Dy CM) positions. Minister for Agriculture N. Cheluvarayaswamy clarified on Wednesday that the Dy CM position is currently filled. Addressing reporters in Belagavi regarding the demand for additional Dy CM posts, Cheluvarayaswamy remarked, “I am neutral in this matter.

The Dy CM position is occupied at the moment. Any decision on this will be made when it becomes vacant.” State BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra responded to the situation in Delhi by suggesting that the Congress party is trying to diminish the influence of Dy CM Shivakumar by introducing more Dy CM posts.

He expressed confidence in CM Siddaramaiah's ability to address this issue with the party leadership. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party MLC C.T. Ravi mentioned in New Delhi that the proposal for three Dy CM positions aims to control Shivakumar. It is widely known who is aspiring to become the Chief Minister in the state.

Shivakumar's current struggle to retain the Dy CM post is viewed as unfortunate, with his pleas seemingly going unheard. In response to these developments, Shivakumar deferred to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru for comments, while Siddaramaiah indicated that the party's leadership will make the final decision.
