Controversy Erupts as 20% of Transferred Inspectors Return to PMC Income Tax Department

TDN

The inspectors and employees who have been working for years in the Income Tax Department of the Municipal Corporation and have completed their term have been transferred to other accounts. But in a short span of time, efforts have been made to re-deploy more than 20 per cent of these inspectors and staff in the same department. However, at the same time, the employees of other departments have been ordered to join the transferred place without any opportunity, which has started a reverse discussion in the corporation circle about the intentions of the Income Tax Department.

The municipal administration has transferred senior officials from the lowest staff in all departments for a month. The transfers have been made as per the rules for officers and employees who have served four or more terms in the same department. As per the orders of the Municipal Commissioner, the transferred officers and employees have also joined the place of transfer. This includes the Income Tax Department.

However, the Income Tax Department has initiated steps to reinstate more than 20 per cent of the inspectors who have been transferred to our department. This has created a lot of resentment among the officials and employees of the administration. When Ervi was a corporator in the municipal corporation, the Income Tax Department never demanded that the transferred employees be reappointed in the same department.

At the same time, many have started raising 'doubts' as this demand has been made while the administrator's rule is going on. Doubts are being raised about the list of inspectors to be transferred to the Income Tax Department, information about pending cases with them.

A large number of allegations are being made against the inspectors of the encroachment department of the municipality. The problem of encroachments in the city is getting complicated day by day as the inspectors working in the same ward for years are adopting wrong ways to shelter the encroachers. In view of this, the municipal administration has decided to transfer the encroachment inspectors to other wards every three months. In such a situation, what is the real 'purpose' of the administration behind re-appointing a few 'experienced' inspectors of the Income Tax Department in the same department? There has been a lot of discussion about this in the municipal council.

Recently, a special drive was launched by the Income Tax Department to fill up applications for 40 per cent rebate. The tax department has requested that about 20 percent of the inspectors pending work in this campaign should be kept in the income tax department for 15 days. No decision has been taken on that yet.
