A large fire erupted at 3:30 am last Saturday at a moong dal drying factory in the Narela industrial area. Upon receiving the alert, authorities from the police and fire brigade swiftly arrived at the scene and successfully rescued nine employees who were trapped in the blaze, transporting them to the hospital. Tragically, three of the individuals were pronounced dead, identified as Shyam, Ram Singh, and Birpal.
The injured have been taken to Safdarjung Hospital, with some sustaining injuries while attempting to escape. Initial investigations indicate that the fire originated from a gas leak in one of the pipelines used for roasting raw moong on a gas burner in the factory. This led to the overheating of the compressor, resulting in an explosion. Six severely injured individuals were brought to Safdarjung Hospital following the incident.
Among them, one patient suffered 55 percent burns and is in critical condition, receiving treatment in the hospital's specialized ward. Another patient sustained 20 percent burns and is in a slightly better state, also admitted to the burn department. The remaining four patients are in stable condition, undergoing further assessments in the burn ward. It is anticipated that they will be discharged post their examinations.
