On Thursday, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) objected in the Supreme Court to granting interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the financial misbehavior case related to the alleged excise policy scam. In a new affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, the ED stated that the right to campaign in elections is not a fundamental right or an incidental right. There is no intention to provide interim ground for election campaigning to any political leader.
The ED emphasized that the right to publicity for elections is not a fundamental, incidental, or legal right. No political leader can be allowed interim land for the campaign of a rival candidate. Interim bail is not granted if a competing candidate is interested in self-promotion. Justice Sanjeev Khanna, heading the bench hearing the petition against Kejriwal's strike, mentioned.
On Wednesday, that an interim order (Jaminavar) would be announced on Friday. The hearing is scheduled for the same day. Kejriwal faced a daily wage strike on March 21 and is currently in the court docket for Tihar Turungat. The division bench, including Justice Dipankar Dutta, was expected to deliver a final verdict on Kejriwal's interimbail petition on the 7th. On Tuesday, the Delhi Court extended Kejriwal's court hearing until the 20th.
