Former Maharashtra Home Minister, Police Officials Booked by CBI

Pune: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, former Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pournima Gaikwad, former Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sushma Chavan, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Govind Karjol and others in connection with a money laundering case. The CBI has registered the case on the basis of a pen drive submitted by the then Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis in the Legislative Assembly.

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Devendra Fadnavis alleged that the state government was trying to implicate BJP leaders in false cases. At that time, he had presented a pen drive in the House. The video was recorded on a watch installed in the office of Special Public Prosecutor Pravin Chavan. After the BJP government came to power, the case was handed over to the CBI. In the video footage, Special Public Prosecutor Pravin Chavan was seen conspiring and discussing with senior police officers to frame senior BJP leaders in the case.


Public Prosecutor Pravin Chavan was involved in framing false complaints against the applicant and other BJP leaders, tutoring witnesses, arranging cash, instructing investigating officers and filing false cases from the first stage. In the video, Chavan was seen telling the officers about how to hide the knife, how to raid, how to show the drug business, how to take action in this case. Adv. Pravin Chavan, along with complainant Vijay Bhaskarrao Patil and then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, conspired to file false cases against BJP leaders.

The case was transferred to Kothrud police station in Jalgaon.
The case was transferred to Kothrud police station to implicate BJP leaders in connection with the dispute in Jalgaon district Maratha Vidya Prasarak Sahakari Samaj Society. Special Public Prosecutor for criminal conspiracy Pravin Chavan, along with Vijay Patil, the then Deputy Commissioner of Police Pornima Gaikwad, retired Assistant Commissioner Sushma Chavan, produced false witnesses and evidence to implicate BJP leaders and others in the case.
