The hazardous chemical factories currently located in Dombivli MIDC are set to be relocated to Jambhavli and Patalganga in Ambernath. Industry Minister Uday Samant announced the formation of a committee, chaired by the Principal Secretary of the Industry Department, to establish the relocation policy.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's directive followed an explosion incident at Amudan Company in Dombivli, prompting the relocation of the Sarayan factory. Samant conducted a comprehensive assessment, identifying 178 factories in Dombivli for surveying and categorization. The committee, inclusive of Principal Secretaries from the Environment and Labor Departments, will assess non-compliant companies and unauthorized structures, presenting its findings within three weeks.

The relocation process is scheduled to commence within a month, with land acquisition procedures initiated in Thivanganga and Jambhavali. Following the cessation of work due to the code of conduct, the committee agreed to seek Election Commission approval to resume the allocation of industrial spaces.
