Thiruvananthapuram : Following the arrest of two Air India Express cabin crew members for allegedly smuggling gold, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has increased its investigation, suspecting the possible involvement of additional crew members in the illegal activity. The DRI detained Surabhi Khatun, a 26-year-old from Kolkata who worked as a cabin crew member on a flight from Muscat, in the early hours of Friday.

She was apprehended after authorities discovered 960 grams of gold hidden in a compound form on her person. Additionally, the DRI also detained her senior colleague, Sohail, from Kannur, who is believed to play a significant role in the gold smuggling operation. With new leads emerging, the DRI has escalated its investigation due to suspicions of other cabin crew members being connected to the gold smuggling scheme.
