India Set to Become World's Largest Civil Aviation Market, Says Minister

The contribution of the aviation sector will be important in achieving the goal of a developed India being realized under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Minister for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol has said that work is in progress to build new airports, new airways and sustainable development of civil aviation sector to make India the world's largest aviation market.

He was speaking at the Asia-Pacific Civil Aviation Summit in New Delhi, which saw participation of Civil Aviation Ministers from 29 countries. Union Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu and President of International Civil Aviation Organization Mr Salvatore Sciacchitano were also present on the occasion along with the Civil Aviation Ministers of 29 countries.

Mohol was representing India when he got the opportunity to represent the Indian delegation at the conference. The summit was attended by aviation ministers, ambassadors and officials from 29 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Claiming that India will soon become the world's largest market in civil aviation, Mohol further said, "It has been the policy of the Government of India to increase the participation of women in civil aviation. In line with this, we aim to have 25% of the total workforce in Indian aviation sector to be women by 2025. Also, to make the aviation sector eco-friendly, sustainable options will be provided in aviation fuel and new airports are being built completely eco-friendly. '
