21 Dead in Tragic Incidents During Ganpati Immersion Across Maharashtra

As many as 21 people were killed in different incidents during the Ganpati immersion in the state.

Mumbai: At least 21 people have died in various incidents during the immersion of Lord Ganesha in different parts of the state. Nine people have died in north Maharashtra, seven in Vidarbha and one in Virar.

In a tragic incident, a woman and three children were killed when their tractor overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle during a Ganpati immersion procession in Chitode village of Dhule district. Some 10 people were injured. A youth, who had gone to immerse Ganesh idols in Totale lake in Virar, drowned in the pond. The deceased has been identified as Amit Mohite (24). Amit had gone to the Totale lake in Virar for immersion. At the same time, Amit fell into the water.

Three children killed in accident
In a tragic incident, a woman and three children were killed when their tractor overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle during a Ganpati immersion procession in Chitode village of Dhule district. Some 10 people were injured. Gayatri Pawar (20), along with her children Pari alias Divyani Bagul (13), Ladu alias Aditya Pawar (three) and Shera Sonawane-Jadhav (six), died after a tractor ran over them.

The Governor, who had come as a guest for ten days, was given a farewell on Tuesday. The immersion of the idol of Mumbai's iconic 'Lalbaugcha Raja' took place at Girgaum Chowpatty on Wednesday morning. The procession, which began at 10 am on Tuesday, ended at 10.30 am on Wednesday.
