Atishi Takes Oath as Delhi's Third Woman Chief Minister

Atishi Marlena took oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi today. Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of Delhi Chief Minister on Saturday (September 17). Atishi was then unanimously elected as the chief minister. Atishi was sworn in as the chief minister by the Lieutenant Governor on September 21. Atishi is an AAP MLA. He is considered close to Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia.

Atishi is the youngest Chief Minister of Delhi.
Along with him, five other MLAs were also sworn in as ministers. The ceremony was held at the Prime Minister's residence. Atishi is the youngest chief minister of Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party attended the ceremony. On September 15, Arvind Kejriwal announced his resignation from the post of Chief Minister. Atishi Marlena is an MLA from the Kalkaji constituency in Delhi.
He held the highest number of portfolios in the Arvind Kejriwal government.
He has also served as an advisor to former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.
Atishi, who was one of the most educated ministers in the Delhi government, has now become the chief minister.
Atishi holds a master's degree in history from the University of Oxford.

He is active in politics since 2019.
Atishi was born in a well-educated family in Delhi. He did his schooling from Delhi and then went to Oxford University for higher studies. Aam Aadmi Party was formed in 2012, Atishi came into active politics in 2019. Atishi is contesting against BJP's East Delhi candidate Gautam Gambhir. Atishi lost the election by over four lakh votes. However, the party nominated her in the Kalkaji assembly election the following year and she won. Three years later, she became a minister in the Delhi government after the resignation of Manish Sisodia. It is significant that he has reached the post of Chief Minister in just five years from 2019 to 2024.

There have been two women chief ministers before Atishi.
Atishi is the third woman chief minister of Delhi. BJP's Sushma Swaraj and Congress's Sheila Dikshit were the chief ministers of Delhi. Sushma Swaraj was the chief minister of the state for 52 days in 1998. In 1998, Sheila Dikshit was the Chief Minister for 15 years and 25 days. Sheila Dikshit is the longest-serving Chief Minister of Delhi. Atishi is currently the chief minister of Delhi.
