Baramulla: Three Militants Killed in Overnight Encounter with Security Forces

Three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Chak Taper Kreeri area of Baramulla district late last night. The security forces retaliated after the militants fired at them. The siege continued throughout the night and three terrorists were killed in the morning, a security official said.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists is being ascertained, police said. An Army jawan was injured in an encounter with terrorists who were trying to infiltrate from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. The encounter took place in Kalal area of Nowshera sector of Rajouri. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area after the militants were spotted, the officials said. This is the second such infiltration attempt in the Nowshera sector in a week. Earlier, two armed terrorists were killed in Lam area on September 9.

The anti-terrorist campaign
Security forces have intensified anti-militancy operations in parts of Kishtwar, Udhampur, Poonch and Rajouri districts in the wake of recent infiltration and terrorist incidents, officials said on Saturday.
