Pune: The Maratha community and the OBC community are at loggerheads over the issue of reservation in Maharashtra. Reservation is creating a rift between two communities. "The Bharatiya Janata Party has always made its stand clear on Maratha reservation. We are of the view that the poor people of the Maratha community should get reservation. But he didn't make the reservation. Since then, there have been several governments in the state. Sharad Pawar has been chief minister of Maharashtra four times. But he didn't make the reservation. We had given reservation to the Maratha community.
Not only was the reservation given, it was upheld in the High Court. The matter had also reached the Supreme Court. However, till the time we were in power, the Supreme Court had refused to stay Maratha reservation three times. But unfortunately, under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government came to the state and Maratha reservation was cancelled.
After the formation of the Eknath Shinde government in the state, we gave 10 per cent reservation to the Maratha community. Today the Maratha community is benefiting from it. Police recruitment is going on in the state. Thousands of youths have got jobs. Despite all this, the way the politics of Maratha reservation is going on. It is unfortunate,.
