On the pretext of activating Phone Pe, the thieves withdrew Rs 5 lakh 22 thousand from the account and cheated. (Online Cheating Fraud Case).

A 54-year-old man has filed a complaint with the Hadapsar police in this regard. He works in Tirupati. When his phone was turned off, he searched for a contact number on Google to activate it. They found the mobile number of the branch manager of ICICI Bank.

We do not activate the phone when the person in front of us calls. We have a customer service department. He'll call you. After some time, he got a call on WhatsApp. He took complete information about the complainant's ICICI Bank. After the procedure, he was asked to recharge Rs 10.

However, the phone was not activated. After this, he again asked the nearest person to send money and said that let's go for a while, phone pay will be activated. He then hung up the phone.

After half-an-hour of checking his mobile phone, he received five messages that the money had been debited from his ICICI Bank account. 5 lakh 22 thousand rupees were withdrawn from his account through 5 transactions. The police watchdog is investigating.
