Historic Pratapgad Fort Gains State Protection, Aims for UNESCO 2024

Satara: The historic Pratapgad in Satara. Mahabaleshwar Fort has been declared as a state protected monument by the state government. His team will soon visit the fort to nominate Pratapgarh in the UNESCO World Heritage Site 2024 list. Accordingly, the notification of the Government has assumed significance by declaring ancient and historical monuments as protected monuments.

Since the government intends to declare the ancient and historical monument as a protected monument, it had given two months' time to raise objections if any. There has been no objection to the government declaring the fort Pratapgarh as a protected monument. Therefore, the government has issued a notification declaring ancient and historical monuments as protected monuments.

As part of the preparation for nomination to the UNESCO World Heritage Site 2024 list, the Satara Zilla Parishad has launched a cleanliness campaign under the 'Swachhta Hi Seva' initiative of Fort Pratapgarh.

Efforts are being made to include the forts of the state in the nomination of UNESCO. Satara District Collector Jitendra Dudi has entrusted the responsibility of the UNESCO team's visit to Pratapgarh Fort and the preparation for its nomination to Satara Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Yashini Nagarajan, Wai Provincial Collector Rajendra Kachre and Mahabaleshwar Tehsildar Tejaswini Patil. All government departments in Satara and Mahabaleshwar taluks have been activated for this.
