Mumbai | The counting of votes for the assembly elections in Maharashtra continues. In the last two-and-a-half years, there has been a political upheaval in the state. Who will be in power for the next five years? Everyone's attention is on it. Meanwhile, a press conference of the Central Election Commission was held today. Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar did not announce the poll schedule for Maharashtra at a press conference. He, however, did not specify the reason for the announcement.

This is the first election in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. The law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir has deteriorated significantly in the last few weeks. Terrorist attacks continue unabated. Tight security will be provided to all the candidates. Maharashtra Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has said that the assembly elections in the state will not be held in a single phase.

What about Rajiv Kumar?
"Elections in Maharashtra will be announced later due to security requirements of Jammu and Kashmir," Kumar said. "It is raining heavily in Maharashtra. There are many festivals. Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali and Ganesh Chaturthi are among the major Hindu festivals. Elections will be held in the next few months, "he said. Both the Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliances in the state have started working towards the elections and the process of seat sharing and candidate selection has also started. However, the Lok Sabha elections are still pending.
The term of the current Maharashtra Assembly ends on November 26. A new government needs to be formed. However, in exceptional circumstances, the Governor can extend the period. Due to this, the elections are likely to be delayed. Elections in the state are likely to be held after Diwali. Though the election dates have not been announced yet, political parties have started campaigning in the state. He has already started campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections. Several parties have already started campaigning and seat-sharing talks are underway.

Opposition hits out at government
The term of the Maharashtra Assembly ends on November 26. Also, it was not convenient for the ruling grand alliance to hold elections so early. People can benefit in the elections only if they get the benefit of popular slogans like Chief Minister my dear sister, Annapurna Yojana, dear brother etc. That's why the election had to be postponed. On the contrary, it would have been beneficial for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) to hold the assembly elections before Diwali to further expose the anti-Maharashtra sentiment or anger against the ruling party in the Lok Sabha elections. The Mahavikas Aghadi won 30 of the state's 48 Lok Sabha seats and the Mahayuti won 17. At that time, the Mahavikas Aghadi was leading in around 160 assembly constituencies and the Mahayuti was leading in around 125 constituencies. The Mahayuti government has already made popular declarations. If the Mahayuti has enough resources, it will be inconvenient for the Maha Vikas Aghadi to delay the election by five months.
