The wait for Mumbaikars to travel on the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Subway Metro 3 corridor is likely to be over soon. The process of obtaining a safety certificate from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for the 12.6 -km Aarey-BKC phase of Metro 3 is in the final stages and the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is likely to get the safety certificate in the coming days. On the other hand, MMRC has been given three dates in the first week of October by the Prime Minister's Office to dedicate the first phase. Aarey-BKC phase will be inaugurated on one of these days. Steps are being taken in this direction. Overall, the dream of Mumbaikars to travel by metro is likely to be fulfilled before Dussehra.

The 32.5 -km Colaba-Bandra-Seepz section of the 337-km-long Metro project of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is being executed by the MMRC. The work has been delayed due to technical reasons and other reasons. Aarey-BKC is a 12.6 km long phase of the corridor. The MMRC has started the most important and final process to put this corridor into service.

The process of obtaining a safety certificate from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is underway. Meanwhile, the wait for the first phase of 'Metro 3' was long due to the delay in the safety certification process. Senior officials of the MMRC said that the testing of coaches, metro trains and rolling stock has been completed by the CMRS. Now the metro lines, the elevators in the stations, other facilities, various systems will be tested. The process of getting the security certificate is in the final stage and it is likely to be received soon. Officials said the first phase of the project has already begun.

The MMRC had recently sought time from the Prime Minister's Office for the inauguration of the first phase of the Metro 3 corridor. According to sources, three dates have been notified in the first week of October. The most likely date is October 4th. Along with the inauguration of the first phase of 'Metro 3' line, the southern Mumbai-Pune line of the Thane Creek Bridge-3 project of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is also likely to be inaugurated.

The CMRS test is still in progress. CMRS testing of metro trains, coaches, rolling stock has been completed. Now CMRS is going to be invited for testing of other facilities, systems.
