Pimpri: Hookah parlour at 'Bell Bottom Hotel' in Hinjewadi raided, two booked

The Bell Bottom Hotel in Hinjewadi. The Hinjewadi police raided an illegal hookah parlour running in Bell Bottom Hotel in Hinjewadi and seized Rs 10,000 in cash. Two cases have been filed in this connection. The action took place on Thursday. It was about half past eleven at night.

Police sub-inspector Tukaram Shelke has lodged a complaint at Hinjewadi police station. According to the owner of the hotel Sumit Bhikanrao Sandhanshiv (26th).

Rajan Kumar Roy (Bijli Nagar) Hinjewadi, Pune has been booked under Sections 287, 125, 3 (5) of the Indian Penal Code read with Sections 4, 7, 21 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act and Section 4 (a) 21 (a) of the Amendment Act, 2018.

According to Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Mahale, a hookah parlour was being run illegally at Bell Bottom Hotel in Bhatewara Nagar of Hinjewadi area. Accordingly, the team raided around 11:30 pm on Thursday.

Sumit Sandhanashiv, the owner of the hotel, and Rajankumar, the staff, were found to have provided space for people to smoke hookah without any license.

The accused persons were found to have not taken any safety precautions by consuming banned tobacco flavoured hookah and other materials required for smoking hookah as well as by burning coal in the stove. The police have recovered jewellery and other items worth lakhs of rupees from them. Hinjewadi police are investigating the matter.
