Protests in Odisha demanding justice for woman who was sexually assaulted in custody

The opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Congress in Odisha on Saturday staged a protest demanding justice for the woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted in police custody in Bhubaneswar.

The opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Congress in Odisha on Saturday staged a protest demanding justice for the woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted in police custody in Bhubaneswar. While the women's wing of the BJD staged a dharna in front of the Raj Bhawan, the Congress gheraoed the residence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and demanded his resignation.

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has demanded a court-monitored SIT and judicial probe into the alleged harassment of an Army officer and his woman colleague at Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar. Hundreds of women members of the BJD, carrying placards and banners, staged a sit-in outside the governor's house. They raised slogans against the BJP government. The activists also accused the government of failing to protect the residents, especially women. On behalf of the party, a memorandum was submitted to President Droupadi Murmu through Odisha Governor Raghubar Das.
