Ragpicker injured in blast: An explosive substance kept in a garbage dump exploded in central Kolkata. A garbage vendor was injured in the incident.

The officer-in-charge of Taltala police station in central Kolkata visited the spot. Many trees were uprooted due to the explosion. He has been admitted into hospital.


According to the police, a small bag was found at the entry point of Blochman Street. The area has been cordoned off and a bomb squad has been called in. The bomb squad checked the bag and searched the surrounding area, after which they cleared the area for traffic.

The accused has been identified as Bapi Das (48). He is undergoing treatment, the police said. A physical inspection of the area will then be performed.
