Raymond Employee Arrested in Hyderabad with Seven Country-Made Weapons

TDN

Hyderabad:In a shocking turn of events, the Neredmet police arrested a 25-year-old employee of a Raymond shopping mall on Friday, September 27, after seizing seven country-made weapons from his possession. The accused, identified as Bollinkala Sai Ram Reddy, is a resident of Sauraram and originally hails from Andhra Pradesh.

Reddy's illegal activities came to light when police were tipped off about his dealings. Upon investigation, authorities discovered a cache that included a pistol, a revolver, a tapancha, and four air pistols, along with 11 live rounds and a mobile phone. Reddy’s history reveals a troubled past; he dropped out of college in 2020 and began his career at a Raymond store in Kakinada before moving to Hyderabad two years ago.

During his brief stint in the city, he worked as an office boy for Amazon for four months. However, his previous criminal record, which includes two theft cases for which he had been arrested by the Uppal and Kakinada police, indicated a pattern of lawlessness. After his release from jail, Reddy sought a quick route to financial gain. He made contact with an inmate from Maharashtra, who facilitated his procurement of the weapons.

Reddy’s intention was clear: to sell the weapons for profit. The Neredmet Police have now booked Reddy under sections 25(1)(A) and 25(1B)(a) of the Arms Act. Authorities continue to investigate the case, and Reddy's arrest has raised concerns about the illegal arms trade in the region. The police are urging the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help combat such criminal undertakings.
