Second Phase of Polling in Kashmir: 25 Lakh Voters to Decide Fate of 239 Candidates

In the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, voting will be held in 26 constituencies. A total of 239 candidates are in the fray and over 25 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes.

In the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, voting will be held in 26 constituencies. A total of 239 candidates are in the fray and over 25 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes. Polling will be held in six districts - three in the Kashmir Valley and three in Jammu. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the second phase. There are a total of 3502 polling stations. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, BJP state president Ravinder Raina and Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra are among the prominent candidates.

Abdullah is contesting from two seats - Ganderbal and Badgaon. Jailed separatist surgeon Ahmed Waghe alias Barkati is contesting from Beerwah. In the first phase, 61.38 per cent polling was recorded on September 18.
