Pune has been battered by heavy rainfall over the past few days. Pune and its adjoining areas have been experiencing continuous rains for the last few days. Due to continuous rain in the catchment areas, water is being released from Khadakwasla, Mulshi and Bhushi dams. This has led to waterlogging in the city.

Meanwhile, the residents of Ekta Nagar in the city are in a state of shock after water gushed into their houses. 5-6 societies in Ekta Nagar area have been flooded. More than 200 people have been rescued so far. NDRF teams have been rushed to the spot for rescue operations.

Due to heavy rains in the Mulshi area, the Mulshi Dam reservoir was filled up to 70 per cent capacity till 7 am. As a result, 2,500 cusecs of water will be released from the dam at 2 am today. If the rainfall in the river basin continues to increase, the discharge will be more or less depending on the situation. The administration has been informed.
