India called for accountability for the individuals responsible for the death of Indian national Satnam Singh in Italy. Muktesh Pardeshi, the Secretary of Overseas Indian Affairs at the Ministry of External Affairs, discussed the issue with Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Maria Vignali. Pardeshi mentioned that the Indian Embassy in Italy is in contact with Satnam Singh's family to provide consular support and arrange for the body to be brought back to India.
A large number of Indian immigrants are employed in the farmlands of a town called Latina, situated to the south of the Italian city of Rome. On June 17, Satnam Singh, a worker, was cutting in the field when he had an accident and his hand was injured. It is claimed that the farmer's neglect in his care led to his eventual death.
The farm owner was also criticized by the trade union. The Italian organization for workers in agriculture and food industry, Fly CGIL Trade Union, also verified the event and stated that Satnam Singh was severely hurt while working in the field. It is unacceptable how the farm owner callously kicked Satnam out of the house.
