India's Deepika Kumari Advances to Semi-finals in World Archery Championship After Impressive Comeback

Rejuvenated after a time's break, Deepika Kumari continued her good form to reach the semi-finals of the individual recurve Olympic event in the first World Archery Championship of the new season. India has started the new season with a lot of confidence and their four orders in the event have been verified. The Indian men's and women's brigades also reached the quarter-tests in their separate events. Dipika, who had slipped to 142 in the world rankings after a string of mid-season failures despite three Olympic appearances, had entered the main draw from the 30th spot in the ranking round.

In the quarter-tests, she came back from 1-3 down to beat Korea's Jeon Hyun yong 6-4. There was no looking back for Deepika after the match ended 3-3. In the six-arrow round, Deepika shot four arrows for a perfect score of 10 to seal her semi-final situation. After a motherliness break last time, Deepika made a comeback this time, winning three gold orders at the Asia Cup in February.

Now she'll have to face another Korean contender to achieve the gold thing in the World Cup. She'll be over against Korea's Nam Suhyeon. In the alternate semi-final, Korea's top seed Lim Shih yeon will take on China's Li Jiaman. Meanwhile, the fourth seeded Indian brace of Ankita Bhakat and Dheeraj Bommadevara went down 0-6 to top seeds Lim and Kim Woojin in the mixed doubles semi-finals.

The Indian brace will now face Mexico in the citation order match. In men's mates, Tarun deep Rai crashed out in the quarter-tests. Jyoti, Verma in final. This was India's fourth successive order in archery. The educated brace of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Abhishek Verma defeated Mexico's Andrea Becerra and Lot Máximo Méndez Ortiz 155-151 to reach the final.

The Indian men's doubles brace will face Estonia in the gold order match. After the Asian Games, Jyoti has a chance to achieve a chapeau-trick of gold orders in the first event of the season. Jyoti has reached the semi-finals in platoon as well as individual mates.
