CHICAGO: US President Joe Biden on Monday said he is confident that Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, will be a history-making president. The Democratic National Convention was held in Chicago. Biden urged voters to vote for Harris to keep democracy alive.
Thousands of party members and leaders stood to greet the 81-year-old as he took the stage. The atmosphere was a bit emotional. 59-year-old Kamala Harris will officially accept the party's nomination at the same convention on Thursday. He is contesting against incumbent President and Republican nominee Donald Trump. The election will be held on November 5 and the new president will take office in January next year. Biden said Harris will be respected by leaders around the world. "We are proud of them and look forward to seeing their impact on America's future," he said. He also said that Trump will realize the power of women in 2024.
