A grandmother and her granddaughter were trapped in the elevator of Tower-4 in Nirala Estate Society of Greater Noida West for approximately an hour and fifteen minutes. The elevator stopped working when the power went out and failed to restart even after the backup power came on. The grandmother, aged 65, and her two-year-old granddaughter were stuck in the elevator, crying out for help for an extended period. Despite repeatedly pressing the alarm button, they did not receive any assistance.

After about an hour, the security guard finally came to their aid after reviewing the CCTV footage from the elevator. It took about 20 minutes for them to be rescued. Both the grandmother and granddaughter were extremely frightened after being stuck in the elevator for over an hour. Residents mentioned that Ankit Gupta resides with his family on the 17th floor of Tower-4.

He had left for work on Thursday, while his mother and two-year-old daughter were downstairs. Around noon, the grandmother and granddaughter entered the elevator to go to the flat but got stuck between the 12th and 13th floors due to the power outage. Despite the generator starting up, the elevator remained immobile. They started shouting for help, but no one responded. The darkness and heat inside the elevator made their situation unbearable.

They waited for about an hour, continuously pressing the alarm button with no success. Finally, the security guard of the tower came to their rescue after viewing the elevator camera footage. Society resident Kumar Saurabh mentioned that it took the security guard approximately 20 minutes to release them. The family of the victims lodged a complaint about the incident with the maintenance office.

Residents expressed anger over this being the second incident of individuals getting stuck in an elevator within three days. On Tuesday night, a mother and son were trapped in the elevator of Tower-9 for about 15 minutes. Society residents are upset due to the lack of basic facilities in the society and the builder's negligence towards maintenance despite receiving timely maintenance fees. Residents had previously protested for better basic amenities, but improvements have not been made.

They warned that if the situation does not improve promptly, they will escalate the matter to the police. In a separate incident, two young men and two children were stuck in the elevator of Tower-3 in Aastha Greens Society in Greno West for around 30 minutes on Wednesday night.

Resident Vipin Singh reported that the elevator halted abruptly between the fourth and fifth floors around 9 pm. Despite pressing the alarm button, they did not receive immediate help. Eventually, after 30 minutes, they were successfully rescued with the assistance of the maintenance team.
