LuLu Group to set up logistics, processing centre in Punjab.

The center is expected to generate substantial job opportunities within the state.

Lulu Group, a well-known Indian United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based multinational conglomerate company, is planning to open a logistics and food processing center in Amritsar, Punjab. The center, spanning 20 acres, is projected to handle 2 lakh metric tonnes. Director Salim M A stated, "Our group intends to establish a center in Amritsar for storage, processing, grading, and packing of local agricultural and other products.

"He highlighted Amritsar's vibrant business environment and its support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), emphasizing the benefit to local farmers and producer organizations. The center is anticipated to create numerous job opportunities in the state. Founded by 68-year-old Indian businessman M A Yusuff Ali in 1995, Lulu Group International is headquartered in Abu Dhabi.

The group is renowned in the Gulf for its popular shopping malls and hypermarkets that cater to diverse ethnic groups. In India, the group operates logistics and procurement centers in 15 states, exporting over 45,000 MT of products annually valued at Rs 10,000 crore.
