Madhavi Latha, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, visited the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. Despite losing to Asaduddin Owaisi by over three lakh votes in Hyderabad, where Owaisi received 6,61,981 votes compared to Madhavi Latha's 3,23,894 votes, she made history as the first female candidate from the BJP to contest in the Lok Sabha elections for the Hyderabad constituency.
Aside from her political endeavors, Madhavi Latha serves as the chairperson of Virinchi Hospitals and is the founder of the Lopamudra Charitable Trust and the LathaMa Foundation in Hyderabad. Her charitable trust, a non-governmental organization, has been actively involved in organizing healthcare, education, and food distribution programs in the Hyderabad region.
In the recent Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured eight seats in Telangana, the Congress won eight seats, and the AIMIM claimed one seat. Previously, in the 2019 elections, the BRS (then TRS) won nine out of 17 seats, while the BJP and Congress attained four and three seats respectively.
