Mumbai Indians suffered their 10th defeat as Lucknow outperformed them, scoring 214 runs in the first innings at Wankhede Stadium. In response, Mumbai could only manage 196 runs. Naman Dhir and Rohit Sharma tried to lift Mumbai's performance with 62 and 68 runs respectively, but Lucknow's Ravi Bishnoi and Naveen Ul Haq took two wickets each.

Despite a promising start, Mumbai's innings crumbled as they lost wickets quickly. Scoring 53 runs without loss in the Powerplay overs, Mumbai faltered when key players like Devald Brewis and Suryakumar Yadav were dismissed early on. Mumbai lost 5 wickets for just 32 runs, with the team needing 90 runs in the last 5 overs. Despite Naman Dhir's effort with 62 runs, Mumbai fell short of victory.

Lucknow's innings, led by Nicholas Pooran's explosive 75 runs off 29 balls and KL Rahul's 55 runs, set a challenging target for Mumbai. With a total of 214 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, Lucknow showcased a strong batting performance. Nuwan Tushara and Piyush Chawla shone for Mumbai, taking 3 wickets each.
