A Muslim cleric named Maulvi Abdul Rahim Rathod has been arrested for including a cow in the list of sacrificial animals for Bakri Eid. Rathod, a resident of Bharuch, Ahmedabad, posted a list of sacrificial animals on social media, which prompted the Bharuch police to take action. The list included buffaloes, camels, and cows.
Following objections on social media after the post, the police intervened and cited Rathod for attempting to disturb the peace. This is not the first time Rathod has faced legal issues; he was previously arrested in 2022 for alleged forced conversions of tribals and had been out on bail.
However, his recent arrest stems from the controversial animal list, leading to charges under Sections 153 (a), 295 (a), 504 of the Indian Penal Code, and the IT Act.
