Owner's murder due to dispute over electricity bill, accused tenant arrested

Mumbai : A tenant killed the landlord with a hammer due to a disagreement over electricity bill payment. This incident took place in Govandi. The owner of the house, who was seriously injured in the beating, failed in the residence. The matter came to light after two days when a bad smell started coming from the house. The 63- year-old indicted was arrested by the Shivaji Nagar police in this case. The name of the departed is Ganapati Jha(49) and he used to live in Banganwadi area.

On Thursday, locals informed the police about the foul smell coming from their residence at Banganwadi. Consequently, when the police went to the spot and audited it, it was set up that Jha had failed two days ago latterly, when Dinesh Jha, the cousin of the departed, inquired in the area, he'd a fight with his tenant Abdul Shaikh(63) due to a dispute over the electricity bill.

Locals said that Sheikh beat Ganapati with a lame stick and a hammer during that dispute. Consequently, Dinesh Jha lodged a complaint with the Shivaji Nagar police about this. After that, the police registered a case of murder and arrested Abdul Sheikh. On April 30, there was an argument between Ganpati and Abdul Sheikh over the electricity bill. From that Ganapati abused Sheikh. Out of that anger, Shaikh climbed the stairs and beat Ganapati with a rustic stick.

When he defied, the indicted took out the hammer from his waist and hit Ganapati on the face. Ganapati was seriously injured on that. He went to his house. Two days latterly, he was set up dead in the house, the police said.
