Parking on major roads : Municipal corporation proposes to levy parking fee on city roads

There is traffic chaos in the city. Parking and traffic are a major problem. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has sought permission from the state government to levy parking fees on some major roads. However, the BJP is likely to oppose it.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale has sent a proposal to the state Urban Development Department for charging parking fees to avoid traffic jams on five major roads in the city. The proposal is to levy a parking fee for two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

It is proposed to charge Rs.10 to Rs.20 per hour for two wheelers and Rs.50 to Rs.100 per hour for two wheelers on five major roads. Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale has sought permission from the state government in this regard.

The fee is proposed to be levied on the following five major roads:

- Jangli Maharaj Road, - Viman Nagar Road,
the Ferguson road.
- Aundh, DP Road,
- Balewadi High Street
