Police Lathicharge at Patna ISKCON Temple to Prevent Stampede During Janmashtami

The festival of Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated across the country with great fervour. Janmashtami is also celebrated in ISKCON temples across the world. A large number of devotees thronged the temple of Lord Krishna. Various religious programmes are being held here on the occasion. A shocking incident has taken place at the ISKCON temple in Patna, Bihar.
There is still so much crowd in the temple area that the police are struggling to control it and plan the crowd. The authorities have called in more police personnel to control the situation.


Police had to lathicharge to prevent any untoward incident.
The devotees of Lord Krishna are spread all over the world. There are hundreds of ISKCON temples dedicated to Lord Krishna all over the world including India. Temples are also decorated on the occasion of Janmashtami. Thousands of devotees thronged the temple on the occasion of Janmashtami. According to NDTV, the ISKCON temple in Patna was so crowded that a stampede broke out in the temple premises. Police had to lathicharge to prevent a major clash. The police managed to disperse the crowd. However, many devotees were injured in the lathi-charge. Authorities called in more police to bring the situation under control.

Police control the situation
Devotees started coming to the temple after darshan. Items of devotees, shoes, garlands, flowers fell there. Some passengers were injured in the incident. Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mishra said, "There was a huge crowd in the temple area. More police have been called in. Our staff is in control of the situation.
