Pune Engineer Loses Rs 1 Crore to Cyber Fraud in Stock Market Scam

Pune: A computer engineer was duped of Rs 15 lakh by a cyber fraudster on the pretext of investing in the stock market. The 45-year-old woman has lodged a police complaint in this regard. A case has been registered against the accused under the Information Technology Act.


According to the police, the accused lives in a rented house in the locality. On June 30, the cybercriminals sent a link to his mobile number. The computer engineer opened the link. He was then inducted into the stock market information group. The group's head, Rajat Chopra, told them about his plans to invest in the stock market. They were then asked to open an app on their mobile phones. Through this, he deposited one crore 15 lakh 44 thousand rupees in the account of the thieves from time to time. They did not return the money.



On realising that he has been duped, he filed a complaint with the police. Over the past year, frauds on the pretext of investing in the stock market have increased. The police have appealed to the people not to fall prey to cyber fraudsters. It is seen that the citizens are falling prey to the lure of thieves by ignoring the call.
