Heavy rainfall has caused significant water accumulation in Pune, leading to hardships for the residents. To address this, a virtual meeting was conducted today with the Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner and officials from New Delhi. The discussions focused on implementing short-term and long-term solutions, including timely drainage, maintaining emergency preparedness, addressing water collection areas, and identifying the root causes of flooding.

The authorities were tasked with developing an action plan to mitigate future incidents. As part of the National Disaster Management efforts, remedial measures are being proposed for flood-prone areas in Pune. Officials have been instructed to swiftly approve the necessary works through the Standing Committee and issue work orders promptly.

An estimated budget of 147 crore rupees is required for these initiatives, with plans to secure funding from the Central Government's Ministry of Home Affairs. Additionally, a special allocation of 200 crore rupees from the state government has been earmarked for flood control in Pune. The coordination of related projects was reviewed to prevent similar situations in the future.

Authorities were also directed to ensure that emergency management lines are responsive to citizen concerns. Key attendees at the meeting included Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale, Additional Commissioner Ravindra Binwade, Prithviraj VP, Srinivas Kandul from the Electricity Department, Santosh Tandale representing Sewage Management, and Ganesh Sonune from the Disaster Management Department, alongside other officials.
