Smuggling - Currency smuggler held at Bengaluru airport.

A 22-year-old man from Chennai was apprehended by authorities at Bengaluru airport while attempting to board a flight to Bangkok. During the search, they found foreign currency [US Dollars, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) ], officials intercepted him. Thai Baht, and Malaysian Ringgit worth approximately Rs.49.82 lakh along with Indian currency notes totaling Rs.45,000 in his possession.

The individual is suspected of attempting to smuggle the money out of India, leading to the confiscation of the currency and the passenger being taken into custody. Investigations are currently on going. In a separate incident, police are investigating a bomb threat received at Mangaluru International Airport a few days ago. The threat, along with similar ones at over 30 other airports in the country, has prompted authorities to take action.

An FIR has been filed at a Mangaluru police station following a complaint by Monesh KG, the chief security officer at the airport. The threatening email, received on April 29 at 9:37 am, warned of explosives planted at the airport and on aircraft, posing a risk to life. Subsequent investigations revealed that the suspect had sent similar threat emails to numerous airports across the country. The police are now actively searching for the perpetrator.
