The second Test is being played in Chennai between India and South Africa. The match will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The first match of the series had ended in a draw. A total of 17 wickets fell on the first day. The batsmen of both the teams took a knee before the fast bowlers. After bowling out South Africa for 160 in their first innings, West Indies were struggling at 97 for 7.
The fast bowlers troubled South Africa from the start. Opener Tony DeGeorge was dismissed by Jayden Seales after scoring just one run. After this, Shamar Joseph dismissed Makram and captain Bavuma in three balls. However, none of the batsmen were able to play consistently. South Africa lost 9 wickets for 97 runs. Dan Peet and Nandre Berger added 63 runs for the last wicket. South Africa lead by 160 runs. Pietersen top-scored for the team with 38. Shamar Joseph, who did wonders with the ball on the tour of Australia earlier in the year, scalped 5 batsmen. He also picked up 3 wickets.
It didn't take South Africa long to hit back on a pitch that was difficult to bat on. In the second over, Berger got rid of Michael Lewis. Skipper Brathwaite (3) could not stay at the crease for long. West Indies lost their fifth wicket in the form of Casey Carty for 47. However, Jason Holder stood tall at the other end. He added 41 runs for the 7th wicket with Gudakesh Motie. On the last ball of the day, Moti was trapped leg before by Keshav Maharaj. Holder is currently unbeaten on 33. Wiaan Mulder took 4 wickets, while Burger took 2 wickets.
South Africa's Wiaan Mulder plays a shot during the first day of the first Test. Wiaan bowled just 6 overs in the first day's play and took 4 wickets for 18 runs. Apart from dismissing West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite, Wiaan also dismissed Alyque Athanaje, Kevon Hodge and Joshua de Silva.

The excellent performance of the bowlers on the first day of the Guyana Test between West Indies and South Africa can be gauged from the fact that along with the innings of both the teams, there were a total of 10 players who could not even reach double figures. Out of these, 5 players have returned to the pavilion after getting out on zero.
