In New Delhi, the Supreme Court addressed a petition on Friday requesting that the election statistics for each phase of the Lok Sabha elections be disclosed within 48 hours of voting. Responding seriously to the petition, the court directed the Election Commission to respond within seven days. Chief Justice Dr. D. Y. Chandrachud, alongside Justice J. B., oversaw the case before a bench comprising Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra.

As the country approaches the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the fifth phase will take place on Monday. Concerns have arisen regarding the accuracy of the polling data previously released by the Election Commission. The Commission published the polling figures for the first and second phases after 11 and 5 days, respectively, noting an increase of 7 and 5 percent.

In response, the Association for Democratic Reform (ADR), an NGO, lodged a petition with the Supreme Court. The petition urges the Election Commission to publish the final polling statistics on its website within 48 hours after voting. Prashant Bhushan represented the petitioners and requested an urgent hearing. The court has served a notice to the Election Commission, instructing a reply within seven days.
