The violence in Manipur : Five killed in fresh violence in Manipur

Manipur Violence: There have been incidents of violence in Manipur for the past one year. Many died in the incident. Earlier in the day, a group of Kuki militants attacked the house of a former chief minister in Bishnupur district. Violence has erupted again in Manipur.

Violence erupts after killing of elderly man
According to The Indian Express, the incident took place this morning. A 63-year-old resident of Meitei community living in Ningthem Khunou area was hacked to death by a Kuki armed group at around 5 am today. They also fired indiscriminately in the area. Later in the afternoon, the Meitei armed group responded to the attack.


Tense situation in Jiribam district
At the same time 5 people have died. These include three suspected Kuki militants and two suspected Meitei militants. Following the incident, security forces have cordoned off the area and brought the situation under control.

Rocket attack on former chief minister's house
At around 3 pm on Friday, Kuki militants had attacked the house of former Manipur Chief Minister late Marembam Koireng with a rocket bomb. One person was killed and 5 injured in the accident. According to an eyewitness, the rocket hit the wall of the house and immediately caused a huge explosion. Such rockets were fired from high places in the Kuki-Zomi majority Churachandpur district towards the low-lying residential areas of Tronglaoibi.
Bomb blasts in Imphal West
Last week, militants had resorted to indiscriminate firing and bomb attacks in parts of Manipur's Imphal West district. Two people were killed and 10 others were injured in the incident. Many houses were also damaged in the shelling and firing.

Schools are closed in Manipur.
The Manipur government has ordered the closure of schools in the state today (September 7) in view of the escalating violence in the state. The Ministry of Education on Friday issued an order in this regard and said that private and central schools will remain closed on September 7 in view of the safety of students and teachers.
