In a recent board of directors meeting at Sangli District Bank, a decision was made to suspend three employees for fraudulent activities involving the drought relief fund. Bank president MLA Mansingrao Naik stated that legal action will be taken against these employees following an investigation. The District Bank regularly provides funds for drought, heavy rainfall, untimely rains, and crop insurance assistance.
These funds are disbursed to the bank accounts of eligible farmers. However, funds for numerous beneficiary farmers are being held in unallocated accounts at the bank due to closed or accounts at other banks. An investigation revealed misappropriation at the Tasgaon Market Yard and Nimni branch of the District Bank, leading to the suspension of Yogesh Vajrinkar, M.Y. Hille, and Pramod Kumhar. Vajneerkar allegedly misused 59 lakh rupees from the relief fund, while Kumbhar from the Nimani branch misappropriated 22 lakh rupees.
Hille, the Branch Officer at the Market Yard Branch, was also implicated. Employees serving in the same branch for over five years will be relocated immediately, while those who have completed three years will be transferred in July. Additionally, all branches of the district bank will undergo inspection, with 48 employees assigned to audit the branches, as per MLA Naik's directive.
