Mumbai - The traffic on Mumbai-Pune highway is moving very slowly. Drivers have to be stuck in the middle of the road for half an hour.
Motorists coming from Navi Mumbai have to pass through the T-junction area of Mankhurd to reach Ghatkopar and western suburbs. But the road has been eroded.
Therefore, the Public Works Department took up the repair work of this road three months ago and a large amount of excavation has been done on this road. As a result, there has been heavy traffic congestion on the highway for the last few days. Earlier, there was a huge traffic jam on the Mankhurd-Ghatkopar link road adjacent to this route. To solve the problem of traffic congestion, the municipal corporation has built a new flyover here.
Traffic was diverted through this road due to the works. However, vehicular movement on the road has been disrupted. Meanwhile, MNS unit president Ravindra Gawas warned of an agitation if the road work is not completed in eight days.
Traffic up to Vashi bridge
The traffic jam near Mankhurd T-junction is directly affecting the vehicles going towards Mumbai. The queues of vehicles going to Ghatkopar, Andheri are reaching Vashi creek bridge. Vehicles going towards Chembur and Sion are also affected as traffic is often jammed up to the Vashi creek bridge. Motorists had a tough time driving through the area in the morning. Therefore, the road should be repaired.
