Two arrested for molesting woman in Kolkata

According to reports, the woman was molested at a five-star hotel in Kolkata. The incident occurred post-midnight on Tuesday. Significantly, on the one hand, when the anti-rape law is being passed in the West Bengal Assembly, on the other hand, the incident has angered the people. The Kolkata Police have arrested two persons in this regard. Police also said that investigation is going on regarding the case.

Mamata Banerjee's government has passed a new bill to ensure the safety of women and children as well as to prevent incidents of sexual assault, exploitation and rape. According to the law, the death penalty is provided for rapists.
The Act also provides that the investigation report of a rape case must be submitted within 21 days. If the investigation is not completed within 21 days, 15 more days will be given to complete the investigation. The investigation which will be done during this 15-day period will be done under the leadership of the Superintendent of Police and the officer of the above rank. Such provisions have been made in the Bill.
