Dubai: In the wake of the chaos in Bangladesh, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to hold the Women's T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament will be played from October 3 to 20 in Dubai and Sharjah. "It is very unfortunate that the Women's T20 World Cup has to be played elsewhere instead of Bangladesh. But I'm confident it will be a successful tournament in the Emirates, "said ICC Chief Executive Jeff Allardice.

The situation in Bangladesh has worsened due to the strong outburst of people against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. There are security issues there. Australia captain Alyssa Healy also expressed her concern. As a result, the ICC was forced to shift the tournament. The ICC had asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host the World Cup.

However, the proposal was turned down by BCCI secretary Jay Shah. Both Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe were scheduled to host the tournament. But the ICC has given the credit of hosting the event to the United Arab Emirates. At the same time, the ICC said that it hopes to host a world-class tournament in Bangladesh in the future.
